Visiting Cake Boss in New Jersey!

This was possibly one of the coolest things that I did this summer! I absolutely love watching Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss and since I was staying with a host in New Jersey we went one morning to visit where the magic happens! Since I stayed in New Jersey for a few days I managed to complete one of my list- to visit 3 new states in America!

Since the host, Rio, had a driver’s license from Hoboken New York we got to skip the general line! When we went there was a line of about over 50 people waiting outside and when we went in there was quite a lot of people already in there. Overall it was a nice experience but unfortunately we did not see any of the cast which was very sad! =(  

 

I was nice to see all of the photos of the cast and the family along the walls and of course there was a lot of memorabilia since this show has gotten very popular!

 I got to see the display cakes so that I could see the level that they had and hopefully get inspired so one day my cakes will be displayed!

 

 I bought 4 of their cannolis and 4 lobster tails which I shared with my host! They were sooooo yummy! Very creamy and crispy and I loved them! Something that I wish that I could eat every morning =P

Let’s hear it for New York!

It has been way too long since my last post and since I am chilling at home for Christmas for a couple of days its time to update! After my trip to North Carolina I ended my summer by going to New York so I could visit a new state and check it off of my 101 in 1001 list. I spent the first 5 days in a hostel with Gosia, a girl that I worked with all summer before couch surfing for another couple of weeks! Although I wasn’t as excited about going to New York as some people might have been, it definitely was an experience! After going to all the tourist places with my friend and once she left I lived with some locals which helped to see New York in a different light =D

Here are just some of the pics that I snapped whilst there!

 If you go to the right places, it really is a lovely place to visit with a lot of scenery. I would for sure go again although one tip I would suggest is make sure you bring enough spending money! Even just wandering about you feel your pockets getting lighter!

Culture in North Carlina!

This is my last post from OBX and very long overdue!

I actually managed to get a bit of culture while in the Outer Banks! Before leaving I managed to take a trip out to the Kitty Hawk Wright Brothers, with a guy who I worked with this summer called Max, which is where the first flight took place! Since I am writing about this on a plane it was quite interesting to see how the Wright brothers managed to actually achieve this! 

Max and I also took a trip out to the aquarium which was super cool! I haven’t been to a zoo or an aquarium in so long so it was a really nice treat to go to one. Although we were unable to swim with the sharks or the crocodiles, we could touch the sting rays which felt really strange. All in all a nice day out :D

Saying goodbye to North Carolina

This post is incredibly late as it has already been a couple of weeks since I actually left North Carolina and its only 6 days before I will be saying goodbye to the US and my summer! But my sendoff was pretty special to me and I hope that I will always remember it!

I actually worked on the day that I was leaving until 4pm and I had planned to get driven to the bus station at 5pm. Me being me meant that by the time my shift ended, I had to still close part of my bank account, find a was to print my ticket for the bus, get showered, say goodbyes and make sure I had everything packed- I like to stay as prepared as possible =P The guy who was supposed to be driving me had been driving at 4 in the morning another girl to the airport and lives with my bosses and they hadn't heard from him all day so as well as everything, I had to hope that I did have a lift! How stressful!
I don't know how but I did manage to get everything done, just with a lot of help- the lady at the bank actually printed my ticket off for me after I had ran back home to email it to her and then she thankfully dropped it off at my work so when we stopped by my work after picking up all my things I just picked it up, picked up my jumper that I had almost left and said a quick goodbye to Max and again to everyone else!
Justin had said that since it was his day off he was up for a road trip which would help Nelson actually stay awake on the drive back and Justin's roommate Austin, who I also worked with, decided to come along too! Armed with Starbucks coffee and good music, we were on our way!

We actually got to Virginia a couple hours before my bus left because of shopping at the Apple store. Instead Justin, Austin and I decided to celebrate my time this summer with some drinks!

Grub time!

I have come to realize that eating out in America is a big thing and with traveling to different places after a couple of days its hard to settle down, buy foods and cook so it is much more convenient to just eat out.  Obviously the Yellow Submarine was a big part of this...I ate there near enough most days! I have tried to list all the new restaurants that I have tried and remembered on my list but here are a couple that I wanted to mention!

Applebees-
I actually can't believe I haven't been to this before. I am pretty sure that I have been to the restaurants similar to this one but still, I liked it here. I went with a Colombian guy called Julian and another guy called Nelson. The day we went was the independence day of Colombia so we wanted to do something to celebrate.

I think by this point I hadn't actually eaten a steak in well over a month so it was steaks all round which went down a treat!

Poor Richards-
This was a sandwich type bar in a town called Manteo which was really lovely and I actually ate at this place twice. The first time though was after the 3rd time going out on my bosses boat. After boating and being in the sun this was like perfection! I got a burger the first time and it was pretty damn good! The second time I went with a guy from work before we decided to go to the aquarium. Roast beef toasted sandwich and a local North Carolina beer, lovely! I have actually forgotten the name of the beer though!

Uptown Buffett-
This was a cool but very sad experience as this was the last meal that I ate before going to the bus in Virginia and leaving Nags Head =( Austin, Justin and me had spent the evening in Virginia mall drinking a cocktail and a couple of beers since Nelson had to do some things in the Apple store. It was a nice send off before my trip to the Big Apple so I cant complain-it was fun! Therefore by this point we just wanted to eat something. The food was not bad, pretty standard for a Chinese buffett!

Put your hands up!

So I have finally managed to tick this off of my list- Shooting a proper gun!


This was a super awesome experience! One of the guys that I work with took me and another guy who had never shot a gun to the gun range to do some clay pigeon shooting. This was for sure a lot harder than how the target shooting was but it was a lot more fun! And I actually managed to hit a couple!

I actually loved doing this; being out in range and just chilling out was really cool. I think that we were maybe out shooting for just over an hour but for sure it was one of the fastest hours!
This is actually something that I really want to do again, already missing it!
